Urban and Community Forestry

The Urban and Community Forestry Program works to conserve and enhance the ecosystem services and sustainable management of North Carolina’s urban forests. The N.C. Forest Service provides urban and community forestry technical and financial assistance to municipalities and community organizations to help us all achieve our mutual goal and make North Carolina a healthy and beautiful place to live, work and play.

Urban Forestry Urban forestry is defined as the management of the planting, maintenance, and protection of tree populations in urban settings to enhance the ecosystem and economic services trees provide to the community.
