The Watauga County office is located at 971 West King Street in downtown Boone. King Street is also Main Street. The office is in the same building as NCSU Extension, County Soil and Water, USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Burning permits may be obtained online or in person from a county permit agent.
