2017 VOLUNTEER FIRE ASSISTANCE AWARD PROGRAM: Region 1 Awards
The N.C. Forest Service (NCFS) is pleased to announce that this year’s Volunteer Fire Assistance Funding has been awarded to qualifying North Carolina fire depts located in Region 1 who were chosen during the application process. This 50% matching award is possible because of federal funds from the U.S. Dept of Agriculture – U.S. Forest Service.
The awarded fire depts will use these funds for purchasing wildland personal protective equipment, wildland hand tools, fire shelters and/or water handling equipment. The fire depts who qualified for this program may receive up to $1,200.00 in matching funds to purchase these items. The ability for these fire depts to purchase wildland firefighting equipment will provide for increased firefighter safety, more efficient suppression operations and will increase the number of properly equipped firefighters in the state of North Carolina.
The N.C. Forest Service appreciates the outstanding service that Volunteer Fire Departments provide to our agency as well as to the citizens of North Carolina. We are pleased to be able to offer this program and we look forward to a long partnership of protecting our citizens and natural resources.
Applications will go out to the other regions soon, please visit this website again for any future updates.
