NCFS Historical Fires: Allen Road
Overview:
The Allen Road Fire started on 1:15 p.m. on Saturday April 6, 1985. It involved the cooperative efforts of the North Carolina Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Personnel, US Marine Corps, NC National Guard, Wayne Community College Students, Forest Industry Cooperators, Volunteer Fire Departments from Washington, Tyrrell and Hyde Counties, Private Equipment Contractors and community volunteers. This fire burned 94,650 acres and was contained by Friday, April 12, 1985.

- Equipment Involved: 5 Helicopters with Buckets, 1 Air Tanker, 1 Scout Plane, 30 Bulldozers, 120 Pumps, 7 Miles of Irrigation Systems, and miscellaneous support vehicles
