Regional & District Offices
The NCFS has 3 Regional Offices and 13 District Offices located throughout the State. The employees at these offices provide supervision and staff support to your County Ranger. Have a question about how we are organized or a specific program area? Couldn't find the answer on our web site? Then you need to contact our staff in our Raleigh Office (919-857-4801). State Forests
The agency operates several forests throughout the state. Seven are designated as Educational State Forests (ESFs), and offer a variety of learning opportunities for children and adults.

Tree Nurseries
The agency operates a container nursery at Goldsboro. Seedling are available for sale to non-industrial private landowners, corporate landowners, as well as state and federal agencies. Linville River Nursery produces Fraser Fir seedlings for the Christmas tree industry as well as Eastern White Pine and other montane conifer species for use in western North Carolina. Training Facilities
The agency operates three training facilities; the Mountain Training Facility in Crossnore, the Stan Adams Training Facility in Chatham County and the Ralph Winkworth Forestry Center in Kinston. Two locations offer overnight accomodations, dining services and classroom environments with internet access and multimedia capabilities. The campuses are available for use by state agencies and other institutions or organizations at reasonable rates. Young Offenders Forest Conservation Program (BRIDGE)
The N.C. Forest Service and the N.C. Department of Public Safety-Division of Adult Correction collaborate on the Young Offenders Forest Conservation Program (BRIDGE) to utilize and train the available inmate population. The program provides rehabilitation and educational opportunities to the assigned inmates, while providing cost services for the protection, development, management, and enjoyment of North Carolina’s natural, cultural and economic resources. The letters in B.R.I.D.G.E. stand for Building, Rehabilitating, Instructing, Developing, Growing and Employing.
